The baobab, the tree of life

Originally from Africa, the baobab is a tropical tree of the Bombacaceae family. The tree with its potbellied trunk and soft, waterlogged wood has a characteristic appearance and lives a long time. Some are thousands of years old. It is generally very massive and can reach 25 m high and more than 12 m in diameter with a crown of irregular branches devoid of leaves 9 months out of 12. Adansonia digitata has a unique botanical character in the Adansonia genus: pendulous white flowers., unlike other species with erect flowers. The smooth gray fibrous bark, sometimes irregularly tuberculated, is used to make ropes and ropes. The baobab fruit (also called monkey bread) comes in an oblong shape, approximately 100 mm in diameter and 200 mm long. It contains small, tangy-tasting seeds that can be pressed to obtain oil.

Manufacturing of baobab oil

In a screw press, the healthy and cleaned seeds are pressed in the first cold pressing, without any intervention of solvent or chemical product. Then the oil is successively filtered on blotting paper. The oil is then stored away from light and heat.

It contains many tocopherols (like its neighbor argan oil). In its unsaponifiables, we find cyclopropenic acids, which are certainly the source of this anti-inflammatory activity.
Anti-oxidant: As it is rich in polyphenols (beta-sitosterol, tocopherol), natural anti-oxidants, Baobab vegetable oil helps protect the skin and the body from attacks by free radicals by neutralizing them. This effect allows it to limit cell oxidation, and thus prevent skin aging.
