Baobab
The baobab (Adansonia digitata), tree of life
Originally from Africa, the baobab is a tropical tree of the Bombacaceae family. The tree with a pot-bellied trunk and soft, waterlogged wood has a characteristic appearance and is long-lived. Some are millennials. It is generally very massive and can reach 25 m in height and more than 12 m in diameter with a crown of irregular branches and devoid of leaves for 9 months out of 12. Adansonia digitata has a unique botanical character in the genus Adansonia: pendulous white flowers , unlike other species with erect flowers. The gray and smooth fibrous bark, sometimes irregularly tubercled, is used to make ropes and ropes. The baobab fruit (also called monkey bread) comes in an oblong shape about 100 mm in diameter and 200 mm long. It contains small seeds with a sour taste that can be pressed to obtain oil.
Making baobab seed oil
In a worm screw press, healthy and cleaned seeds are first cold pressed, without any solvent or chemical intervention. Then the oil is successively filtered on blotting paper. The oil is then stored away from light and heat.
Main properties of baobab oil

- Nourishing and moisturizing : With Baobab oil, your skin will be pampered and soothed! Indeed, its rich composition in unsaturated fatty acids deeply hydrates and nourishes the epidermis, and its properties will be present for both your skin and your hair.
- Softening and emollient : Thanks to its content of essential fatty acids, this oil is softening and plays a major role in sagging skin. It restores the skin's elasticity and regenerates the hydrolipidic film, thus promoting soft and supple skin. Baobab oil penetrates very easily and leaves your skin feeling particularly soft. It contains many tocopherols (like its neighbor argan oil). In its unsaponifiables, we find cyclopropenic acids, which are certainly the source of this anti-inflammatory activity.
- Antioxidant : As it is rich in polyphenols (beta-sitosterol, tocopherol), natural antioxidants, Baobab vegetable oil helps protect the skin and the body from the attacks of free radicals by neutralizing them. This effect allows it to limit the oxidation of cells, and thus prevent skin aging.
