Benefits

Why choosing L'huile précieuse n°2?

SOWÉ Huile précieuse n°2 is particularly suitable for young skin that needs natural sebum regulation.

A blend of 9 precious organic vegetable oils, cold-pressed to retain all their virtuous properties, these renowned oils have been carefully selected to provide you with maximum benefits.

Rich in fatty acids and vitamins A, D and E, it is a synergy in which dry oils predominate. It deeply moisturises and protects your skin.

A simple day application will leave your skin balanced, protected and radiant.

  • Hemp oil (from France), rich in Omega 3,6 and 9, repairs and regenerates your skin. It soothes and revitalises.
  • Macadamia nut oil perfectly moisturises your skin thanks to palmoleic acid. It repairs the skin by fighting redness and imperfections.
  • Jojoba oil acts as a sebum regulator. A natural preotection against free radicals, it leaves no oily film.
  • Argan oil, regenerating and softening, thanks to its highly effective linoleic acid, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Pomegranate seed oil, rich in punicic acid, soothes and firms your skin. It offers a surprisingly natural facelift.
  • Baobab oil, an antioxidant, softens the skin while protecting it with its moisturising properties.
  • Energising hibiscus oil shows down water loss from the dermis, ensuring optimal hydration. It is a powerful antioxidant.
  • Calendula macerate reduces inflammation in sensitive skin. Thanks to its proven antioxidant effect, it is effective in treating minor skin ailments.
  • Prickly pear oil, a panacea for fighting fine lines and wrinkles. Protective effect guaranteed.
  • Tocopherol (naturally derived from sunflowers) has an anti-ageing action and prevents skin ageing linked to oxidation.
  • CBD isolate or cannabidiol (500 mg) is the key ingredient in this blend. On its own, it combines the functions of antioxidant, protector, nourisher and regulates excess sebum: no more blackheads.

Why using a skin oil?

Despite what you might think, oil is not just a product for fry skin. While oil is a real shield against dehydration, it also has a self-regulation function, helping to prevent excess sebum. As a protective barrier, an oil limits external aggression. Moreover, all the active ingredients penetrate much more easily with a carrier oil. This allows you to maximise the benefits of each ingredient in your oil. There's no longer any excuse for not including oil in your skincare routine.

What properties do plant oils have for the skin?

Skin oils are natural products that can have many benefits, depending on their composition and how they are used.

Vegetable oils are extracted from plants, fruit, seeds or nuts. They are rich in fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants. They can nourish, moisturise, protect, regulate, heal and soften the skin. They are suitable for all skin types, but you need to choose the one that best suits your needs and sensitivities. Jojoba oil is ideal for all skin types, including oily skin, because its light, penetrating texture protects the dermis. Argan oil is recommended for dry and mature skin, because it has nourishing, regenerating and anti-ageing properties, while hempseed oil is better suited to oily skin.

What are the benefits of CBD on the skin?

CBD has numerous benefits for the skin, depending on the skin type and the issue being addressed. CBD can help with:

Regulating the production of sebum for oily or acne-prone skin

  • CBD normalizes the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines (anti-inflammatory effect).
  • CBD normalizes lipogenesis in sebocyte cells (lipostatic effect without compromising cell viability).
  • CBD decreases the proliferation of these cells (antiproliferative effect without inducing sebocyte apoptosis).
  • CBD exerts a sebostatic action (lipostatic and antiproliferative) by activating TRPV4 receptors, thereby significantly reducing sebum production.

Alleviating sensitive or irritated skin

Its regulatory action on the inflammation process helps limit the production of pro-inflammatory molecules at multiple levels. By doing so, it contributes to restricting the dilation of micro-blood vessels, thereby reducing the occurrence of skin redness. This is particularly beneficial for conditions like rosacea and psoriasis. As a result, the skin appears smoother and more soothed.

Reducing redness or inflammation

Many studies attribute undeniable effectiveness to CBD as an anti-inflammatory at various levels:

  • By blocking the migration of macrophages (digestion of foreign particles and pathogens).
  • By regulating the activation of lymphocytes (recognition and destruction of foreign cells).
  • By inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory substances.
  • By promoting the release of other anti-inflammatory substances called "Cytokines".

CBD demonstrates its effectiveness as an anti-inflammatory at various levels.

Preventing or reducing signs of ageing

The antioxidant effect of CBD helps slow down the oxidation process of cells, thereby preventing the occurrence of oxidative stress. CBD thus delays the natural aging process of cells and acts as a barrier against factors leading to premature aging that we encounter daily.

Hydrating dry skin

CBD improves the appearance and texture of the skin, making it more supple, smoother, and radiant.

How does CBD affect the skin?

CBD is a phyto-cannabinoid: a molecule that mimics endo-cannabinoids (cannabinoids produced by the human body) to interact with the endocannabinoid system: a set of receptors found throughout the body, including in the skin.

CBD acts on the skin by:

Modulating the production of sebum

Modulating the inflammation process

Protecting the skin against oxidative stress

Soothing sensations of itching or pain

It is a natural active ingredient ideal for skin issues, acne, and numerous dermatoses.

How is CBD used on the skin?

CBD can be used on the skin in various forms

Depending on the mode of application and the desired result, CBD can be presented in the form of oil, to be applied directly on the skin or mixed with a cream or serum.

CBD can also be found in the form of cream, balm, gel, mask, soap, deodorant, etc. CBD can also be vaporised in the form of water or mist, to be sprayed on the face or body.

At SOWÉ, we have opted for oily formulas to maximise the concentration of CBD in our formulas, since cannabinoids are fat-soluble.

Is CBD anti-ageing?

Active anti-oxidant

Yes, CBD is considered an anti-ageing active ingredient because, as well as being protective and seboregulating, it is also anti-oxidant. In other words, it helps to combat oxidative stress and therefore the signs of ageing: wrinkles and fine lines.

Originally, hemp as a natural skin care product

The use of natural products is increasingly sought-after because of sustainability and ecology issues, and as a possible way of improving therapeutic results for chronic diseases of the skin or our body.

The legalisation of cannabis in a growing number of countries has paved the way for research into the use of cannabinoids in therapeutic topical or oral formulations.

Cannabinoids, including CBD and CBG, are a diverse class of pharmacologically active compounds produced by the plant Cannabis sativa.

NB: CBD, CBG and other active ingredients used in our formulas are very different from THC. Don't worry, you won't become addicted or dependent on these products.

The endocannabinoid system, regulating homeostasis

Humans have an endocannabinoid system involved in the regulation of several physiological processes, including naturally produced endocannabinoids and proteins involved in their transport, synthesis and degradation.

CBD and the skin: how does it work?

The discovery of a cutaneous endocannabinoid system and its role in maintaining skin homeostasis, as well as its anti-inflammatory action, is now generating a great deal of interest in its use in the treatment of inflammatory skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and contact dermatitis. CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is one of the many cannabinoids contained in our miracle ingredient: cannabis.

Cannabidiol also penetrates the skin very well. As it is lipophilic, it can act directly on the endocannabinoid receptors located in the skin.

Choosing Hemp as the main ingredient in our formulas, whether applied internally or externally, means that the SOWÉ brand can rely on a product that is known and recognised for its benefits.

The endocannabinoid system and CBD

To understand the complexity of cannabidiol (CBD), and therefore of hemp, you also need to know that this plant interacts with the human body and the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

This is a regulatory system in mammals that is involved in many essential functions such as sleep and appetite. While the immune and nervous systems are the best known, the endocannabinoid system, otherwise known as the ECS, was discovered 30 years ago.

It plays a crucial role in regulating many of the body's physiological functions, helping it to achieve or maintain balance.

The four main objectives of the ESC include:

  • neuroprotection
  • recovery from stress
  • immune balance
  • homeostatic regulation, which enables a living being to maintain physiological balance within its body despite adverse external conditions.

In situations of excessive stress, for example, this system is activated, allowing the body to return to a normal state. If necessary, we produce our own cannabinoids: endocannabinoids.

How do I apply my oil to the skin?

Place 3 to 5 drops in the palm of your hand, then gently massage into the face, body and/or hair, avoiding contact with the eyes. The precious oil can be used every day, morning or evening, as you wish.

Morning routine

Apply every morning after cleansing the face and body, preferably before applying cream, to allow the skin to absorb the treatment.

Night routine

Apply every evening after cleansing the face and body, just before going to bed, so that the active ingredients penetrate throughout the night as the skin regenerates.

Further information: How do I apply oil correctly to the skin?

Can oil be used on oily skin?

Yes, you can use an oil on oily skin, as long as you choose the right oil. Contrary to popular belief, some oils are capable of regulating sebum production and restoring the complex balance of your epidermis.

Here are some plant oils recommended for oily skin:

  • Jojoba oil: Similar to the sebum produced by the body, this oil is highly prized by our skin and helps to rebalance sebum production.
  • Black cumin oil: Antibacterial, black cumin oil effectively eliminates skin imperfections.
  • Hemp oil: Deeply moisturises the skin without leaving a greasy finish.

It's important to note that even if oily skin doesn't need to be nourished, hydration is essential. Poor hydration could encourage the epidermis to produce even more sebum in order to hydrate itself, aggravating the vicious circle of oily skin. So it's essential to work directly on the skin with the right skincare products.

How do I determine my skin type?

To determine your skin type, follow these steps.

1. Prepare your skin

Start by removing your make-up completely and washing your face with a gentle cleanser. By the way, did you know that jojoba oil is a great 100% natural make-up remover that takes care of your skin at the same time? Next, wait an hour without applying any products to your skin.

2. Examine your skin

After an hour, dab your T-zone (forehead and nose) with a tissue. If sebum has been transferred to the tissue, your skin is either oily or combination. Also, find out how you feel. If your skin feels tight after washing, it's probably dry. If it feels refreshed, it's probably oily.

Don't hesitate to use our online diagnosis to find out which product is best for you.

Here are the different skin types.

Normal skin

It produces just the right amount of sebum to stay hydrated, protected and comfortable without shine.

Dry skin

It is desperately short of sebum, tight, uncomfortable and flaky.

Oily skin

It tends to be shiny all over the face. It is generally thicker, with dilated pores and irregular skin texture.

Mixed skin

It is often rather oily on the T-zone (where the sebaceous glands are most numerous) while the cheeks are dry and tight.

It is important to note that the condition of the skin can vary according to external factors such as climate, diet, stress, etc. It is therefore advisable to re-evaluate your skin type regularly to adapt your skincare routine. It is therefore advisable to regularly re-evaluate your skin type to adapt your skincare routine.

What are the differences between vegetable oils and essential oils?

Vegetable oils and essential oils both come from nature, but they are very different in terms of composition, origin, method of production and use.

Vegetable oils are fats that nourish and protect the skin, while essential oils are concentrates of volatile substances with therapeutic properties.

Vegetable oil

They are extracted from oleaginous plants such as baobab and sunflower, or from dried fruit, seeds or flowers. They contain vitamins and fatty acids, and have nutritive, protective, softening and regenerative properties that are beneficial for the skin. They can be used or eaten pure. They can also be used as a base for diluting essential oils.

Essential oil

They are obtained from the flowers, stems, roots or leaves of plants, often by distillation. Their therapeutic properties (toning, digestive, soothing, etc.) vary according to their origin. They generally need to be diluted, for example in a vegetable oil, and can also be inhaled. Care must be taken, however, as there are contraindications to the use of essential oils, as some of their chemical components can be dangerous.

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a molecule extracted from hemp. CBD is legal in France and most other European countries, provided it contains little or no THC, the psychoactive substance in cannabis.

CBD is used in many cosmetic products for its moisturising, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and sebum-regulating properties. CBD can be taken as an oil, placed under the tongue or added to food.

How do I store my oil?

Store at room temperature, out of sight and reach of children, in a dry place protected from UV rays and light.
Avoid severe thermal shock.
