Why use an oil on the skin?

A lipidic, oil-based formula slows down the loss of transepidermal lipids (TEWL). They form a protective film on the skin's surface that reinforces the cutaneous barrier, while providing essential lipids that are compatible with the hydrolipidic film. It contains no water, so no water-soluble preservatives are needed, which often makes it purer and better tolerated.
