Pomegranate seed oil, organic, anti-inflammatory

Pomegranate seed oil

Pomegranate seed oil is particularly rich in vitamin E, a natural antioxidant as well as in punic acid which makes this organic oil one of the best anti-aging treatments that can exist.

Pomegranate, the fruit of paradise

The pomegranate tree is a small tree (up to 5 m high) which can live for several hundred years. Its orange-red, apple-shaped fruits are divided by numerous walls. The seeds, up to 400 per pomegranate, are found in the cells between these walls. It is from these seeds that the oil is obtained. The beneficial effects of pomegranate have been known in the Orient for millennia.

Manufacturing of pomegranate seed oil

In a screw press, the healthy and cleaned seeds are pressed in the first cold pressing, without any intervention of solvent or chemical product. Then the oil is successively filtered on blotting paper. The oil is then stored away from light and heat.

Properties of pomegranate seed oil

Properties of pomegranate seed oil on the skin

Pomegranate seeds contain punicic acid (70%), a conjugated polyunsaturated omega 5 fatty acid, similar in structure to linolenic acid. Rich in tocopherols (≈ 1650 mg/kg), pomegranate seed oil also contains phytosterols and vitamin E. This oil is recommended for reactive skin and mature skin. It can be formulated into all anti-aging skincare products for its benefits:

  • Anti-oxidant, thanks to its richness in vitamin E, phytosterols and polyphenols. It protects the skin from the harmful effects of free radicals, responsible for skin aging.
  • Regenerating, thanks to its omega-5 content, a fatty acid that stimulates cell renewal and collagen production. It thus reduces wrinkles, fine lines and scars.
  • Nourishing and hydrating, thanks to its composition of essential fatty acids, which strengthen the skin's lipid barrier and maintain its elasticity and suppleness.
  • Soothing and anti-inflammatory, thanks to its calming and healing properties. It relieves irritated, sensitive or redness-prone skin.

Pomegranate seed oil can be used pure or mixed with other vegetable oils, such as borage oil or rosehip oil to enhance its effects. It can also be incorporated into creams, serums or facial masks. It is preferably applied in the evening, to clean, dry skin, massaging delicately with your fingertips. It is suitable for all skin types, but especially for mature, dry or fragile skin.

Properties of pomegranate seed oil on hair

Pomegranate seed oil is also known to have many benefits for hair:

  • Nourishes and repairs in depth, thanks to its richness in essential fatty acids, vitamin E and phytosterols. It restores vitality and health to hair losing shine.
  • Protects from external aggressions, such as the sun, pollution, wind or cold, thanks to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory power. It thus prevents split ends, breakage and dry ends.
  • Strengthens and stimulates, thanks to its vasodilator effect, which promotes blood circulation in the scalp. It can thus help fight against hair loss and promote their growth.
  • Beautifies and shines, thanks to its light and non-greasy texture, which does not leave residue. It brings suppleness, softness and shine to the hair, without weighing it down or making it greasy.

In addition to its delicious and refreshing taste, pomegranate has health benefits, such as reducing blood pressure, anti-inflammatory action, anti-cancer properties, heart health, cognitive function, sexuality and sports performance.

Amusing :
If pomegranate strengthens and stimulates blood circulation in the scalp, its vasodilator effect gives it beneficial effects on sexuality.
Pomegranate improves erections and increases libido in both men and women.
